During the First Six Days of Kindergarten, each family will have one scheduled WaKIDS Family Connection Meeting with their child’s teacher. This is an opportunity to share information about your child and connect with their teacher as they begin kindergarten.

Meeting dates: September 2-10, 2026
Important: Your child’s teacher will provide your family’s specific meeting date and time.

Kindergarten scholars attend half days during the First Six Days of Kindergarten and are released 3.5 hours early. The first full day of kindergarten is Friday, September 11. (FWPS is closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day).

If your child rides the bus, this means your child’s bus will arrive at their normal stop approximately 3.5 hours earlier than normal.  Parents or guardians must be present to pick up their child from the bus stop when the bus arrives.

VIEW BELL SCHEDULE

The first full day of Kindergarten and Bright Futures Kindergarten is Friday, September 11, 2026. To find out what time your child's school starts and ends, please view the bell schedules.

Visit us at the Federal Way Farmers Market this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the new location between Town Square Park and the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center to learn about academics, job opportunities, ways to get involved, and more. See you there!

The first day of Developmental Preschool is Monday, September 14, 2026. To learn more about FWPS preschool programs, click here.

The first day of Part-Day ECEAP is Wednesday, September 14, 2026. Students will begin with a four-day slow start and have their first regular day schedule on Monday, September 21, 2026. As a reminder, Part-Day ECEAP has no school every Friday, beginning with Friday, September 18, 2026.
